Olga Grun

Olga Grun was born in Prague, Czech Republic.  Although Olga is a psychologist by trade she has always considered herself an artist, painting since she can remember. Her skills as a psychologist influence the atmosphere of her paintings which reflect the memories and wishes of many. She considers herself self-taught in combination with private lessons from Masters in Prague, Czech Republic as well as attending many art classes in community colleges both in the Czech Republic and US.

Olga’s first years living in the United States were in Los Angeles, where she took private lessons from Master Jiri Zavrel.  In 1989 she moved to Minnesota and lived there for over two decades.  While in Minnesota her work was exhibited in the Jewish Community Center of St Paul, Goodhue Bank in Red Wing, Tamarack Gallery in Stillwater, and in The Edina Interior Design Center, Edina.

Olga received third place in the art competition of the Rotary Club in Eagan, MN in 1991. She was also a semifinalist in the art competition hosted by The Viridian Art Gallery, New York, NY in 1990. She was a member of many art clubs and art centers in Minnesota.

As subjects for her paintings she uses her own sketches and impressions of locations, memories, and her own photographs of scenery that captured her attention and affected her mood. Her style is influenced by old master impressionists reflecting the beauty and vibrant colors of landscapes, and capturing light and shade in the moment. In her paintings she is using colors and texture to exaggerate or restrain emotions that may be considered as expressionistic influence.
